C17. Links
What are a link function, an inverse link and a canonical link?
Worked answer (click to show)
Definitions/notation. The link g maps the conditional mean to the linear predictor, g(\mu_i)=\eta_i, and its inverse gives \mu_i=g^{-1}(\eta_i). A canonical link equates \eta_i with the natural parameter in the chosen linear exponential-family representation; it is a transformation of the mean, not of each observed response.
