The starting value X_0 of a pseudorandom number generator. The same seed reproduces the same sequence of draws, which is why a simulation records it, with set.seed in R.
In Simulation
From Simulation
starting from a seed X_0, with positive integer multiplier a, increment c and modulus m. The pseudorandom numbers are U_i=X_i/m. With c=0 it is a multiplicative congruential generator.
